Continuous Packaging with the Rowa® Dose System*

Oct 12, 2012

KELBERG/MUNICH, 10 October 2012 – CareFusion, a leading, global medical technology company, today announced it is presenting the Rowa automated storage and retrieval systems for pharmacies at this year's EXPOPHARM 2012, being held Oct. 10-13 in Munich. In addition, the Rowa Dose System, a completely novel concept for packaging dosages prescribed for individual patients, will be exhibited at booth A-23, Hall A6.

The system packages tablets for the individual patient in seconds, according to the prescribed administration times. Unlike traditional packaging systems, Rowa Dose enables continuous, uninterrupted packaging thanks to a newly developed technology. The system can be expanded in a modular way and thus grows to meet requirements.

The Rowa Dose System is beneficial for both hospital pharmacies, where medicines were previously supplied by hand, and also for retail pharmacies packaging medicines for nursing homes. The availability of tablets and capsules in individual blister pouches offers major advantages for patient safety. Owing to the simple handling - one blister corresponds to one administration time - medication adherence is increased and errors are prevented.

"By expanding our product family, we want to give our hospital and retail pharmacy customers another building block toward safer and more efficient health care," explains Minne Jorritsma, Field Manager for Packaging Systems. "Packaging dosages individually for patients is practical, easy to understand and safe. With Rowa Dose everyone benefits - from the pharmacists and nursing staff to the individual patient and his or her relatives."
